Counselling for fertility and desired motherhood issues

Fertility counselling

Going through the emotional rollercoaster of wanting a child?

Whether you are struggling to conceive, making important decisions around fertility treatment or contemplating single motherhood, leaning on someone impartial and experienced can take some of the weight off your shoulders.

Depending on what’s going on in your life and your relationship, desiring a child can be complex. Maybe you’re not sure you want children right now but don’t want to miss your chance later. Maybe you are desperate to become a Mum but you’re experiencing challenges to make this dream come true.

Whether you are partnered or not, it can feel confusing and lonely. Together, we can explore what family and parenthood means to you and discuss the different routes to getting there. And if you have started your fertility journey already, I would be honoured to support you, no matter where you’re at.

Through my personal experience as a single Mum with an IVF story, I am particularly well-placed to provide a compassionate, judgement-free space to speak freely about your concerns, your emotions and the way forward, no matter where you’re at.

It’s complex, it’s hard and I am here for you.

Fertility counselling: the Motherhood Clarity Programme

Helping High-Achieving
Single Women Decide

If you’re single and fear you’re running out of time to have a baby, this is for you

I get it. Maybe you always thought it would happen naturally. With the right partner, at the right time. And now, things don’t look like you expected. But life is busy, your career is full on, time passes by, and life goes on. Except it doesn’t really, with this question always weighing on your mind.

I know from personal experience how hard it is, and how lonely, sad and confusing it can feel. One of your most cherished dreams seems like it is slipping through your fingers.

Now, imagine taking a break from all the busyness and getting really clear and honest about what you want – and what you’re actually going to do about it. These are huge decisions and they deserve some intentional space, care and attention.

That’s why I have developed the Motherhood Clarity Programme to help women who are worried about missing their chance to become mothers:

Personalised Action Plan for your motherhood decisions

Non-judgement and zero personal agenda: while your partner, family and friends can be a great source of comfort, they may be too close to the matter to be able to help. You may feel judged or misunderstood, you may feel pressured or unsure. This is why some people find it helpful to get extra support through fertility counselling. You can speak freely of your concerns and your feelings while exploring what options are truly right for you.

If you are already going through assisted fertility treatment, it can feel like an emotional rollercoaster. Getting support and feeling seen can help you navigate this sometimes rough journey. Leaning on someone who doesn’t have a direct stake in the matter can take some of the weight off your shoulders, no matter what stage you are at.

Yes. I frequently encounter single women for whom decision-making around pregnancy and potentially creating a single-parent family is a real question, and sometimes a pressing one. This can feel stressful and isolating. Being able to discuss options that do not fit the traditional course can be a relief and an eye-opener for the way forward. We can acknowledge and work with the fear of missing the opportunity to become a mother because your biological clock is ticking. You may also need to process some grief around finding a romantic partner in order to have a child in the traditional way.

Fertility counselling philosophy

Helping you connect to your truth

I see therapy as a co-creation. You hold all the answers, even if you don’t know them yet. My role is to be your mirror, to help you deepen your awareness and bring clarity to your journey through understanding and truly seeing yourself.

Below are some of the hallmarks of my therapeutic approach:

Values of care

I regard my clients with empathy, non-judgement and deep respect.

Holistic integration

Tuning into the wisdom of your body sensations, dreams and imagination.

Trusting potential

I believe everyone has the ability to grow and change.

Intuition cultivation

Reaching a quiet place within to hear the voice that knows.

Creative techniques

Guided visualisations, drawing or role play help us gain insights.

Transpersonal psychology

Honouring you as both a human and a spiritual being.

Leaning on someone who doesn't have a direct stake in the matter can take the weight off your shoulders.

Fertility counselling: the Motherhood Clarity Method

The Motherhood Clarity Method

My method to help you reach the clarity needed to make informed decisions and take aligned action around your fertility and motherhood project includes three key steps: Get Real, Get Clear and Move Forward, each with three essential components.

Step 1: Get Real

Get Real is about being able to share, unpack and release the heavy load you have been carrying alone. All your emotions, thoughts and doubts are welcomed. Without fear of judgement, taking up too much space or feeling inadequate

Step 2: Get Clear

Get Clear is about exploring more deeply what you want to do next, based on your individual and personal truth, your values, belief system, cultural and practical dealbreakers, and your financial and time boundaries.

Step 3: Move Forward

In this last step, all of your realisations and newfound clarity crystalise into a tangible plan with clear and actionable next steps. I will help you to design this plan, while making sure that you continue to be supported and nurtured at this stage where things start to become very real.

How fertility counselling works

Support through 4 key stages

Seeking pregnancy counselling services doesn’t have to feel overwhelming. Wondering what to expect once we start seeing each other? Below are the main stages we will generally go through together:

1

Beginning

We start with an assessment session, after which we decide whether we wish to continue working together.

2

Building our relationship

We continue with 4-5 sessions, building trust and safety between us. If needed, we adjust depth, pace and focus.

3

Deepening

As weekly sessions evolve, we are generally becoming more skilled at noticing and understanding your belief and behaviour patterns.Potential for change emerges.

4

Ending

We complete with 2-3 closing sessions, grounding learnings and ensuring emotional stability.

I am not reimbursed by LaMal, but if you have a prescription and complementary insurance, they may cover sessions with me. Most international and UN insurances do also cover sessions with me. Please contact your insurance provider to find out exactly what is included in your policy and mention that I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, Registered Member 395057.

Each session is 50 minutes long. We meet once a week, always at the same time on the same day. This regularity and consistency creates safety, trust and allows for deepening of our work together.

Working on a specific, limited issue – otherwise known as brief therapy – typically takes around 12 weeks. Longer-term therapy can last anywhere between several months to several years. Each journey is different and we will take stock and adapt together depending on your specific needs.

No, I am not a doctor/psychiatrist and therefore cannot assess personality disorders, pathologies, ADHD, autism or any other medical condition, nor can I prescribe medication. I am a counsellor and I can support you through short-term or longer term talk therapy, which can run in parallel to seeing a psychiatrist. I have a large network of English-speaking mental health professionals in Geneva, so if we agree that you would benefit from additional support, I will gladly refer you to other specialists.

Don’t waste any more time feeling confused, lonely and stuck.

I would love to speak with you on a Motherhood Clarity Call or receive any questions you have by email.
